Big night for taxi man Liam
A Donegal man who has well and truly adopted Tralee since he arrived into Fenit in his fishing trawler almost twenty years ago, celebrated his 70th birthday with a big bash at Kerins O’Rahillys clubhouse last Saturday night.
Liam Duffy, married to Anne Harris, switched careers when he settled in Tralee and is now a well known taxi man in the town, and is partner with Anne in LA Cabs.
Party man Liam enjoyed being centre of attention for the evening, taking pride of place among his Tralee and Donegal family and friends.
Son Martin and brother Joe came from their hometown of Dungloe, and Liam Junior arrived from Australia for the party.
Also there were Mary McCole, another Donegal woman who has adopted Tralee and comes from the same town as Liam, old neighbours from his native Dungloe also joined the party, nieces and grandchildren.
Of course Liam has plenty of Tralee friends, plus his gang of party ladies from Fenit who always throw themselves into the spirit of any celebration and didn’t disappoint on this occasion.
Eileen and Sheila King, Patricia O’Mahony, Peggy King, Catherine Nolan, Tess Fitzgerald and the rest of the gang took to the floor the minute the music started and kept the party rolling.
Music was provided by the dynamic duo Joe and Nuala Mulcahy from Limerick - Joe was one of the original band members of Reform a group of the late 60s, 70s and 80s.
Leslie Harris, Anne’s daughter, captivated the party goers as she sang a few songs as only she can do. Eileen in the bar supplied the food and fun and craic was enjoyed by all.
Liam and Anne want to extend thanks to everyone who turned out on the night and everyone who sent wishes to Liam - a truly great way among friends and family to mark his special birthday.
