To keep up with the news, a journalist has to stay on the move. And Kerry’s Eye journalists are more mobile than most, which means that no matter where in Kerry a story is breaking, we’ll be there to report it.

Kerry’s Eye  uses the most modern newsroom technology available, enabling our reporters to transmit stories from anywhere in the county. A reporter can write a story on location and transmit it to our newsroom instantaneously from their own computer. So that within minutes of an event happening, the report is ready to go onto a newspaper page. This enables us to bring the freshest, most up-to-date reports to our readers. It’s the same thing with photographs. Every single picture taken by Kerry’s Eye photographers is instantly transferable to our newsroom, giving unprecedented speed and topicality to every story. At Kerry’s Eye, we keep up with technology, so we can stay on top of the news.  Today’s reader expects more from a local newspaper. It’s a fast-paced world, and important stories happen every single day. Kerry’s Eye understands that readers want the most up-to-the-minute news possible. We cover the news - where it happens and as it happens.

WE'VE GOT KERRY COVERED

In the newspaper industry, there’s only one figure that matters - the  circulation. And since 1974, the weekly circulation of Kerry’s Eye has been on the increase - every single year.
With weekly sales of over 25,000 , we’re now read by over 100,000 people every week. And we’re still growing - throughout the county, Kerry’s Eye is recognised as the best, weekly available.
Growing sales in all areas proves that  we’re the local newspaper of choice for readers throughout Kerry and beyond.
We believe that our success is due to a number of factors.
First of all, we believe in giving our readers the best, most accurate, and most up-to-date news and sports coverage in the county.
We have also worked hard to ensure that our newspaper is relevant to our readers’ lives.
That means articles that are incisive and to the point - written by journalists who understand what readers want in their newspaper.
Added to that is the fact that Kerry’s Eye covers news and sports from all over Kerry in a single edition - so no matter where in the county you live, or where you buy your Kerry’s Eye, you know you’re getting all the news - and not just reports from a single area.
And don’t forget - we’re also the brightest and most colourful local newspaper in the entire country.
And that means more, and better, colour photographs every week.
At Kerry’s Eye, we believe that the news is not just simply the bad news - we bring our readers the most comprehensive stories and photos from the events that help bring communities together.
Nobody beats our coverage of the one thing that makes Kerry unlike any other county - the people.
Our growing circulation figure shows that readers agree.
They know that when it comes to the news and sport that matter, we’ve got Kerry covered.

NEWS THAT MATTERS IN THE COMMUNITY

imageKerry’s Eye  began as a Tralee-only weekly, covering issues of importance to readers in the area. But as the paper developed, readers around the county noticed something - Kerry’s Eye was different to other newspapers.
It still is - an independent voice, independently owned, and willing to report the stories that matter.
So our readership grew beyond our original base. Now, as well as reporting on the issues that matter in Tralee, we’ve got Killarney covered too.
Our coverage of the tourist capital of Ireland is second to none, and Kerry’s Eye is continuing to make a difference for local readers.
Based in Killarney, award-winning journalist Breda Joy brings the hottest news from the county’s tourist capital, and Killarney is currently our fastest-growing circulation area.
We have also made significant inroads in Listowel and throughout North Kerry.
Up-to-the-minute news and sports reporting has been key to our success in the area.
Our weekly column The Feel of the Feale makes sure all the local happenings are covered, while our team of mobile journalists constantly criss-cross the region, providing comprehensive coverage every week.
For years Kerry’s Eye has been building a reputation as the newspaper that knows what’s going on in South Kerry too, in important towns like Caherciveen and Kenmare.
Kerry’s Eye is also the favourite of more and more readers in critical areas like Killorglin, Castleisland, and Milltown, as well as throughout Dingle and West Kerry.
Our readership is increasing beyond the Kerry border - in  towns like Abbeyfeale and Athea, for example and over the Cork boundary into Ballydesmond, Kanturk and Millstreet.
Our circulation and our readership is growing, and readers know that for the best of Kerry, Kerry’s Eye is the only paper that matters.

KEEP IT LOCAL

imageOne of the most significant facts about Kerry’s Eye is that it is the county’s only independently-owned and operated newspaper, and the only local newspaper produced and printed in the county.
• We live and work in the community that supports us, and all decisions that affect our business and the way we impact locally are made right here in Kerry.
• Which means that all profits stay exactly where they were earned - also right here in Kerry.
• We believe that maintaining an independent voice is critical when covering the county.
• We believe too, that it’s important that a local newspaper retains firm roots in the community it serves.
• It means we have a bond with readers that newspapers answering to large corporations based outside the county could never achieve.
• Maintaining links with our readers has helped put us where we are today.
• We’re Kerry’s local newspaper, in every sense of the word.
