Plaque unveiling at site of former Nazareth Home

A lifetime ambition and dream for Miriam Moriarty Owens will come true on Saturday May 11th when a plaque commemorating the survivors of the Nazareth Industrial School will be placed under a tree in the grounds of the former institution.

The plaque will be unveiled by Minister Norma Foley at the site of the former Nazareth Home which was located in what is now the McAuley premises at Baile Mhuire in Balloonagh.

Miriam was just a baby when she was sent to Tralee’s Pembroke Alms Industrial School better known as ‘The Nazareth’.

Fenit ladies Tracey and Aoife enjoy great night

It was a laugh a minute on Saturday night when two Fenit friends, Tracey Lynch and Aoife Kelly, celebrated with their fellow gym members from Wonder Woman Fitness.

The celebrations were to mark Aoife Kelly’s engagement and Tracey Lynch’s ‘getting unhitched’ event and both had sashes declaring their special reason for the celebrations.

Aoife is daughter of Mary Kelly and the late well known Fenit fisherman Thomas Tucker Kelly –Aoife’s brother is Ruairí and she has two sisters Eilís and Bróna and she has a daughter Cara. Aoife is engaged to Lee Sugrue, father of Kym and Bobby.
